Resumes

Recruiters and hiring managers today receive hundreds of resumes for every job opening. Many of those resumes are irrelevant to the job or are overlooked because of poor formatting or missing information.

A good resume, one that sets you apart from the crowd and motivates a hiring manager to call you for an interview, must be:

  • Carefully designed to meet the specifications of a company’s applicant tracking system

  • Free of errors in spelling, grammar, or formatting

  • Easily scannable within 6 seconds by a human reader, drawing their attention to the skills and accomplishments the company is seeking

If this all seems a bit overwhelming, you need to hire a professional resume writer.

I have designed attention-grabbing resumes for executives and professionals in many careers and industries, and for people in career transition, including military to civilian, academia to consulting, and business owner to employee.

I take the time to research your industry and your background, identify key words and skills, and help you articulate what makes you an asset for your targeted job.

Cover Letters

Employers often ask to include a cover letter when submitting resumes. What they've told you is, "I'm busy. This letter better convince me I should even look at your resume." The biggest mistake you can make is treating your cover letter lightly. This is where you make your case that you're the person they need!

A winning cover letter should succinctly tell:

  • Why them—why you’re interested in that job at that company

  • Why you—what you can do for them

  • Why now—what is prompting your job change or career change?

If you have trouble “tooting your own horn,” don’t know what information to include, or are uncomfortable writing and formatting an appealing letter, I’m here to help!

Professional Bios

Your bio is a description of your professional background in story format. On social media platforms, it is your digital calling card.

A professional bio is extremely useful when you’re looking for a job. There are times when it’s premature to send a resume to a company or networking connection.

If you are a blogger, a business owner, a celebrity in your field, a candidate for public office, a public speaker, a consultant, a professional trainer, a sales or marketing professional, an executive or aspiring to be one, you need a professional bio.

If you are receiving an award for achievement in your job, your field, or your contributions to your community, you need a professional bio.

Let me craft career documents that tell your story and make it easy for people to find and connect with you.

  • Mary Ellen George-Hess

Laynette was a dream to work with! She very effectively and efficiently sized up my personality and captured my top career life moments and priorities to pull together a very impactful resume.

  • Dianna Karlicek

She has a definite gift for writing resumes that wow.

  • Patty Billingsly

Laynette was detail oriented throughout the process and took the time to not only learn about what I felt was important but, she also completed a high level of research on her own regarding the industry I'm in. We completed several phone and web consults to refine the initial drafts. Her expertise in the field of writing was clearly evident.

Coincidentally almost immediately upon completion of my resume, I was contacted by a recruiter. After viewing my newly drafted resume, the recruiter commented that my "resume was excellent". I would highly recommend Laynette to anyone looking for a skilled professional to "put their best foot forward" and update their resume and or profiles.

  • Tess Wertychyn

When I received the first draft of my resume from Laynette I was impressed. I felt like my old clunker of a resume was turned into a Ferrari! Laynette accurately portrayed me, in my voice, but in an incredible presentation that I never could have done myself. My only regret was that I did not work with Laynette sooner. I needed her expertise long ago!

  • Joseph Medulla

My resume is now very polished and offers an accurate representation of the skills I have to offer to employers. Additionally, she helped me to understand what hiring managers are looking for in candidates and find the ways to highlight my strengths. With her help, I was able to gain the confidence I needed to impress and start getting offers. If you are searching for the best in this field, look no further.

  • Paul Karp

I worked with Laynette on my resume, LinkedIn profile, and job searching strategies. She is very helpful and has a good understanding of the market. If you are in need of assistance or are struggling to find your next job, she can be a huge help.

  • Rachelle Pellissier

I highly recommend Laynette's services! Laynette recently developed a new resume for me. I have always had an up-to-date resume that I developed. This is the first time I have had a professional write a resume for me. I was not getting the interviews that I wanted, so I thought it was worth a try. What an excellent decision on my part!

I sent the new resume out to two organizations, was invited to interview with both companies, received a job offer from one company, and I got to the finals for a position at the other. That is 100% success rate since Laynette developed my resume! The best decision I ever made was to call Laynette Evans! I highly recommend that you call her today!!

  • Scott Hoffmann

Laynette took extreme care to learn my likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses in order to build a Resume and LinkedIn profile that best matched my skill set and career goals. If it's been a while since you have dipped you feet into the job market I would strongly recommend reaching out to Laynette for some tips. She is great!

  • Paulette Sanford, DDS

Laynette worked with me to create a professional resume—my first after over twenty years of self-employment.

I was thrilled and delighted with the resulting resume and am quite sure I could not have created anything close to its effectiveness had I not had Laynette’s help. Very impressive to me was the extensive research Laynette had done to identify current trends, highlights and key terms in my field.

I recommend Laynette’s services without reservation.

  • Charles DeNault

I get many compliments on my resume and LinkedIn profile and that's due to Laynette's expertise and hard work. Better yet, I've had many recruiters reach to me about openings. She was a pleasure to work with and in a couple sessions had my online presences light years beyond what I could have done on my own. Her work on my resume and profile was one of the best investments I've ever made.
